If you create websites for small business owners or you want to try and do SEO for yourself, here are a few helpful tips to get your local website indexed and how to get free search engine traffic.
1. Meta Tags.
The first and easiest thing you can do is fill out the Meta tag description, add a relevant page description and add the correct keywords.
2. Domain Name.
Try and get a domain with the local suburb, state, region or area in it, for example; Say, I have a shop in Texas that sells BBQ Spare ribs. I would get a domain like yumtexasribs.com
3. Local Directories.
Google loves directories! Submit your site to all of the local search directories. HOT TIP: Pay and get your ad(s) into the Yellow Pages, you should also hire someone to submit your site/s to the other popular local directories in your area.
4. Site Links.
Make sure you have deep links within your site. Deep linking is when you link one page on your site to another page on your site. If you do this then the Search engine robots will crawl those pages as well.
5. Inbound Links
One of the best ways to get a high rank in the search engine is to have many links pointing to your site. You can buy ad links, hire a linking service or you can create the links yourself.

Takes some research to dig through all the trash offers or you could put money into developing your own.
